5 Reasons Why YOU Should Take a Teacher Training at Innerstellar

by Rebecca Vasile

Lead Innercore Pilates Teacher Training Instructor, Studio Owner and Yoga, Pilates & Dance Instructor

Rebecca Vasile knows a thing or two about Teacher Trainings -- here at Innerstellar, she completed the Stellarflow Yoga Teacher Training in 2012 and the Comprehensive Innercore Pilates Teacher Training in 2014. In addition, she has completed Pilates trainings with Balanced Body University, Carolyne Anthony's Center Method for Diastasis Recovery and a host of other Pre- and Postnatal Pilates Teacher Trainings. Most recently, she completed a 5-day course on Pre- and Postnatal Yoga with San Francisco-based educator Jane Austin. This year, she is elated to join the Pilates teacher training staff at Innerstellar as a Lead Teacher in our Innercore training this autumn. Here are her top five reasons why YOU should take a Teacher Training at Innerstellar:

  1. YOUR PERSONAL GROWTH: First and foremost, teacher trainings at Innerstellar nurture each trainee's growth - not only as a yoga or Pilates Instructor but as a human being. Each training guides you deeper into who you are and promotes working on yourself as a foundation for teaching others. We can only truly help other people heal and be the best versions of themselves if we do that work too. The trainings foster that awareness and growth so we can inspire others from the wisdom gleaned from our own path. This critical skill will help you become the person you most want to be, whether or not you intend to teach. When I took the Stellarflow teacher training, I never wanted to become a yoga teacher. As I said in the introductory Talking Circle, "I don't even like yoga." But I wanted to learn to teach in the embodied way that Lead Teacher Kiki Lovelace taught and I needed a major life change. Boy, did I get that! The training literally changed my life and my relationship to my body. Five years later, not only do I teach yoga but I own a yoga, Pilates and Dance studio in Petaluma, CA called The Body Loom and I love it!

  2. HEALING YOUR INJURIES:  If you are a regular at Innerstellar, you know that we teach people of all backgrounds and that you don't have to be super fit and without injury to practice here. The same holds true for our trainees! A lot of people often tell us they want to take our trainings but that they have some injury or chronic pain or illness, so they think they wouldn't be strong enough or good enough to teach. In our experience, the opposite is true -- not only will you go through your own profound healing experience during our training, but you will emerge having that many more specific tools with which to help your future students. Additionally, the other trainees will benefit tremendously by being a witness to your process and  learning how to work with your injury or health challenges. At Innerstellar, we don't see injuries or pain as a problem -- we know from our own experiences that they are incredible learning tools for evolution and growth!

  3. OUR DIVERSE TEACHING STAFF: Instead of having one instructor, our programs bring together multiple instructors, each bringing their own gifts, backgrounds and knowledge. This creates a well rounded approach giving trainees the unique experience of learning from a wide and deep history of teaching experience and styles. I'm thrilled to be able to share my experiences and knowledge of how to best support your pregnant and postnatal students every step of the way as well as with those who are working with issues like pelvis floor dysfunction and diastasis recti long after giving birth. Pilates is such an empowering and healing style of all movement; I can't wait to guide this year's trainees on their journey into the art of teaching Pilates to ALL bodies!

  4. OUR FOCUS ON THE ART OF EFFECTIVE TEACHING: Learning how to cue movements and alignment is the easy part. What sets great teachers apart from the rest is their ability to teach from a grounded and embodied place. Unfortunately, this skillset is quite often overlooked in teacher trainings. Innerstellar's trainings focus on skills for connecting to your unique gifts, authentic voice and speaking with power, creating instructors that are inevitably more grounded and enjoyable to study with. What I'm really excited to bring to the training is helping our trainees find their true voice -- not to mimic other instructors but to speak as themselves and be leaders from their own experience and feelings. That, backed up by a deep understanding of the Pilates repertoire, is invaluable as a Pilates instructor and any movement teacher.

  5. OPPORTUNITY TO CRAFT A CAREER YOU ARE PASSIONATE ABOUT: Last but certainly not least, once you've taken an Innerstellar teacher training, you are instantly hireable! Highly trained teachers are in demand - graduates of our Innercore Pilates program get paying work on average within 2 months of completing the training. Innerstellar now even offers a Job Placement Assistance Program. You will have the skills to go out in the world and begin teaching, and we will help you land your first teaching job.
